An exhilarating, inspiring evening of traditional Celtic Christmas music featuring the remarkable Jodee James and her group. Each selection, whether vocal or instrumental, has been carefully researched and connects audiences to this wonderful time of year. Music from many Celtic nations is performed, including Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and Cornwall. A Welsh storyteller and/or champion Irish dancers may be added to this special concert for added dimensions. Metropolitan Klezmer ushers in the Festival of Light with refreshing, lively takes on familiar holiday sounds, adding to the band's incredibly versatile range of Eastern European Jewish folk and dance music, Yiddish swing tunes, and vintage soundtrack tango. The NYC-based octet brings exuberance to Hanukkah songs in both Yiddish and English, adds Caribbean flair to a dreydl-spinning number & Turkish mystery to a menorah-lighting classic, as well as other musical surprises. The award-winning band's broadly appealing approach reflects both witty irreverence and deep respect for tradition. Nadolig Llawen - A Welsh Christmas
A wonderful concert of traditional Welsh Christmas music and customs presented by "America's Welsh nightingale," Jodee James. With songs both in English and Welsh, or an all-Welsh language concert, Jodee and her delightful group hold audiences spellbound with seasonal music in the ancient Welsh tradition. Plygain songs and traditional favorites such as Nos Galan and Y Gelynnen are featured in the program, as well as Mari Lwyd songs and customs.
