| Biography |
"The
most talented band in their genre," (Hot
Press) and named "Best of Britain"
by The New York Times, Ffynnons beautiful,
multi-lingual voices, gorgeous harmonies, and
stunning original compositions combined with
traditional Welsh Celtic music paint a significant,
fascinating picture, with nods to Brittany,
Scotland and Celtic England.
Known
throughout Europe and North America, Ffynnon
has headlined the Potomac Celtic Festival, Cilgerran
Castle, Gosport Festival, Longwood Gardens and
Celtic Fest Chicago. Victory Review says, "Lynne
Denman sings like she's trying to coax the sun
back out."
In
addition to their concert and festival performances,
Ffynnon also tours with master storyteller Michael
Harvey, presenting the tale of Culhwch and Olwen,
which is the oldest surviving story from the
Arthurian legends of the Mabinogion.
The
Mabinogion is a group of Welsh stories that
were taken from two ancient books called the
"Red Book of Hergest" and the earlier
"White Book of Rhydderch." They tell
the stories of people in Celtic times. Some
of the stories have been dated to the Iron Age
Europe of approximately 500 BC. Their signifigance
and the importance of the Welsh language and
music in general is that Welsh is the oldest
continuously spoken European language. |
